Jean Colonna's work mainly focused on light garments - translucent layers, cut-out knits and jersey - and many of his finest moments have a sense of clever simplicity. This coat, on the other hand, is a rare example of proper tailoring from the designer, featuring a structured chest-piece construction and full lining.

Despite choosing a traditional 100% wool tweed, Colonna's affinity for all things fabulously cheap is evident in the waxy cheetah print that has been applied on the top right side of the back. Note the horizontal seam that defines the silhouette, and the beautifully proportioned stance of the three-button closure.
